Michael Nicholas teaches us how to ‘achieve optimal performance’ by Joe Adams

Michael Nicholas

Michael Nicholas, a corporate trainer, coach and professional speaker spoke to my Academy for Chief Executives CEO Forum group (ACE11) recently. The subject, “Achieving Optimal Performance“.

Michael’s talk on Leadership had great takeaway value in that he brought a multi dimensional approach to this important leadership principle. He discussed leadership versus management at length and emphasised how the spatial skills are more inspirational than mere information. He is an extremely analytical author who gives a totally professional performance. One of the very best speakers on leadership in my eight and half years at the Academy. The takeaway value was very high.

Some key points were:

  1. More pictures and less information = great inspiration.
  2. Be more practical and summarise more.
  3. When you get irritated, look at yourself and ask why?
  4. Create happiness to get results.
  5. Trust your instincts.
  6. Happiness is an “inside” job.
  7. Stress can be a good thing (although this fights with the belief that stress is poorly handled pressure).
  8. Look at what you’re are doing in context with what works for others.
