Academy Group 18, chief executive mentoring and experiential learning group (with members from Central Manchester, North Manchester and Lancashire) recently had ecological expert Anthony Day talk to them on the subject of ‘Will Climate Change My Business?’
As an MD who keeps up to date with current issues, but battling to keep up with the day to day demands of running a business, I must admit that climate change and how it could affect my business is something I kept pushing to the bottom of my ‘to do’ list. However, Anthony has left Academy members with many ideas that we can take away and implement fairly easily and inexpensively into our own businesses.
I’d like to share with you three key things I took away from this meeting:
- There are commercial advantages to doing things differently – in a green way – saving money by being greener and smarter and making money by meeting my customers’ expectations
- Understanding the business risks from climate change
- Complying with new legislation on climate change for business
